There are many reasons why you might be looking into counselling and it can feel daunting to take that first step. If we choose to work together I will aim to create a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore whatever brings you to counselling. Sometimes this can be a specific issue you want to address – which could be a life change, bereavement, the impact of abuse, questions about identity, relationship challenges, repeating unwanted behaviours, or any number of other things.
Part of our work may be to look back at where behaviours originate from including early relationships. You may want the focus to be what is happening for you at the moment or maybe where you would like to be in the future. How we feel can also be impacted by the world we live in, the trauma we see in wider society and our own experience of discrimination and oppression so there will always be space to explore this in our work. I believe you are the expert on you and my role is to support you to be curious about your situation. I will be aiming for a relationship based on equality in which we explore together what is troubling you.
